Need some help from you techno buddies.
This evening, I sat down as watched a game in Spectator and kept getting a CI. I ended up doing a reboot and when I attempted to start the COD program, it wouldn't open up again. I've tried multiple times, with the same result.
It opens the initial greenish picture in the center of the screen and then the screen goes dark for a second, like it normally does before kicking into the game. Except now the game closes and goes right back to the desktop. Any idea what the problem is? I will thank you in advance.

What operating system you have? I saw something where a Windows 10 update causes the game to crash. If you did a reboot it might have allowed some changes to be made that aren't compatible with the game. In which case going back to the most recent restore point (again, assuming Windows 10) would be the only way of fixing it.

Usually Rebooting your computer or turning it off for about 30 seconds or so solves a plethora of software and hardware problems.
I am currently running Windows 10 with all of the latest updates as well as running the game through a VR Headset and have had no issues running my COD program. Though, not every computer hardware/software reacts the same to changes made by updates.
I did have problems some years back with some sort of audio issue that prevents the game from starting up period. What I found out was plugging in any old pair of earphones into the microphone slot in the back of your computer solves this startup problem.

Anpan, thanks. I had unplugged my headphones and once they were plugged back in....voila!

you beat me to it...I just installed Cod4 on my windows 10 pc, and had to "enable" my stereo microphone in order to get the game to launch.
