Hi everyone, I've decided to come back to COD4 a bit, yay! (for those who don't remember/know me, I was a member and exec admin until about 4 years ago when I went off to college)
I've just downloaded COD4 from Steam without thinking, and of course it's the 1.7 patch, not 1.2, and the place to be is, of course, the Psych Ward. Does anyone know of any ways to change back from 1.7 to 1.2 with the steam version, or do I just need to get the old school CD version and install from that?
Thanks everyone and I look forward to seeing you on the servers soon!

I honestly have no idea. I know there are "patch switchers" but I'm unsure if they work with the steam version of the game or not. I've had friends downgrade in the past from the steam version (I believe) and again, unsure how. Hopefully someone else here will be more enlightening of how to do it.

I don't think it is possible to dual-patch in the reverse order - I've tried to help several people out with this - so you are stuck in 1.7, I'm afraid, until you might find an older copy of the game.

What you could do is have someone send you files of the older version of the game (I've had to do this in the past - my disc's are scratched to no end) and use your steam's CD key.
